Well Versed in the Google Universe

The Google Universe...so much to love...and , well, maybe not hate. One of my favourite Google apps is the Google Maps (that rhymes)! When you click and drag that little yellow guy and are able to look around your neighbourhood...or route plan a place you've never been to...or even better...look at your old childhood house for nostalgic reasons....well, I tell ya!!! Nothing makes me happier!!! Well, maybe except for some Bailey's on ice cream...

I know it's related, but I also really enjoy Google Earth. I downloaded that one when it first came out. It's pretty similar to the Maps but it's fun to watch yourself zoom into the Earth at lightspeed!

I use Gmail somewhat regularly (although Hotmail is my main squeeze) and obviously Blogger is in that family.

Would I recommend...definitely! But, only if you think they will be interested in the product. Having said that, who wouldn't be interested in exploring the world around you!

Facing the Facebook

What can I say! I'm a Facebookaholic! Maybe that should be a new term added to Webster's in the near future as I doubt I'm the only one :) So, I already have an account and I was already a fan of Calgary Public Library so all that's left for me to do is to write about it.

Is Facebook a time waster or useful...I say both! I find it useful for staying in touch. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm usually so burnt out from emailing at work that I find staying in touch with friends and family more difficult than it was in the good-old-days when email was new. Facebook makes it easy to find friends and family and by just "liking" their status, it's like you've said hello! However, I spend far too much time playing some of the silly games (like Treasure Isle, which is my new favourite application). Still in all, it's worth it for me...mindless fun mixed with loved ones...priceless!!!

A Wiki We Will Go...

Okay, so our next task is to explore and edit Wikipedia. I have already accomplished both in the recent past so I can comment on that. The post I edited was an entry regarding an episode from the kid's show "Arthur". It was a correction as someone had posted an incorrect name for D.W.'s pet budgie that had died (they had put in Spunky and I changed it to Spanky). Now, this was something I clearly stumbled across on my travels of reading up on "Arthur" but it wasn't terribly easy to find an entry that was already incorrect. I'd be more likely to just add some information that I considered an important addition.

My love for Wiki knows no bounds! Such a quick way to get information that is pertinent and easy to find. However, I'm always reading it with the thought that what I'm currently reading could potentially be garbage! I've even committed the mortal sin of using a Wiki article as a resource for a paper at University! This garnered question marks from the prof :) Therefore, my final word is...use at your own risk!
